Your Day Is My Night

64 min.
A quasi-fictional and experimental hybrid documentary exploring the concept of "shift-beds" in New York City's Chinatown. A shift-bed is defined as a bed shared by people who are neither in the same family nor in a relationship. Typically, one person sleeps in it during the day and a different person uses it at night. They are found commonly in immigrant communities, and are a worldwide phenomenon - a makeshift fix for those who are most impacted by poverty and the affordable housing crisis. However, this film seeks to go beyond plight voyeurism, and shows both the positives and negatives of such a living situation.
